The Cork International Short Story festival is held annually, usually in the third week September. The busy 5 day event is made up of a full schedule of readings, public interviews, seminars, walking tours and the highlights of the programme – the awarding of The Seán Ó Faoláin Prize and The Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award.
The latter prize is now one of the most lucrative of its kind in the world. Both gentlemen were of international renown and needless to say both were born and raised in Cork.
